Appignano is a beautiful hill resort that is situated in the heart of Marche and it is considered one of the smaller village in the province of Macerata.

Appignano is nationally known for its majolica, furniture and clothing. It is a village in which there are many different industries.

Appignano has a typical medieval old town with a Town Hall built in the late eighteenth century that is designed by Mattia Capponi di Cupramontana architect and several artistic and architectural monuments, such as: Forano Convent dates back to the XIII century and it is known for hosting San Francesco d’Assisi; Addolorata Church built for the first time in the Middle Ages and then rebuilt in 1746; St. John the Baptist built in the XVI century and it renovated in the Eighteenth century; Tusculano Villa built in Napoleonic times by Leopoldo Armaroli Count and designed by Giuseppe Nadi architect.

Every year, Appignano offers to its tourists the “Bellente il brigante”, a traditional Summer dinner with old dishes that are tasted in the Town Hall square. Thanks to the vintage clothes, the appignanese life is commemorated and influenced by Napoleonic State contradictions and Papal power legacy.

In early Autumn, there is another successful event “Leguminaria”. This is a gastronomic event in which pulses are the protagonists as chickpeas, beans, lentils and roveja. Each dish is made using the traditional “Grandma” recipe and then it is served in earthenware bowls made by the Masters potters of Appignano.
