HOW TO KNOW ABOUT ASCOLI PICENO …

Ascoli Piceno is the capital of the province of the Marche.

The old town of Ascoli Piceno is almost entirely made of travertine and it is the most admired in the Region and in the central Italy too, for its artistic and architectural treasures.

Ascoli Piceno is called the City of hundred Towers because it preserves several noble and bell-towers.

The Renaissance People Square is one of the most beautiful square in Italy tank to its historical, artistic and urban importance.

Ascoli Piceno is a bishopric. Instead, the business area develops in the lower valley of the Tronto river.

The city is not far from the Adriatic sea and it borders on two protected natural areas: the Gran Sasso National Park, the Laga Mountains and Sibillini Mountains National Park.

On People’s Square there are some of the most important buildings as Captains Palace,the historic Meletti Caffè and the Saint Francisco Church.

The oldest square in Ascoli Piceno is the important Arringo Square, where there are the Baptistery of Saint Giovanni with medieval origins, theSaint Emidio with the crypt dedicated to the Saint Patron. Besides there are the Bishop’s Palace and the Arengo Palace the home of the picture-gallery.

It is possible to visit the following monuments: the Roman Solestà bridge which can be visited inside, the Roman theater ruins, the Annunciation Caves a Mammoth Roman period construction, the Pia Fortress, the Malatesta Fort and the Longobardo building with the Ercolani tower.

In Ascoli Piceno there are also temples dedicated to the patron saint as: Sanit Emidio Caves and Sanit Emidio Red and Vincent and Anastasius church with the characteristic façade divided in panes.

Ascoli Piceno is characteristic for its squares and monuments, but also for its streets, as: via Pretorianavia di Solestàvia delle Stellevia Soderinivia del Trivio,antico cardo and Mazzini main street.
